True North Advisors Managing Partner takes part in BBC Debate Night

True North Advisors Managing Partner, Geoff Aberdein, was invited to take part on BBC Debate Night broadcast from the magnificent Music Hall in Aberdeen.

Energy was inevitably a key focus of the discussion and he argued for a balanced approach to energy transition that is both economically and environmentally coherent.

The massive renewables opportunity on our doorstep should excite us all but we will only realise it if we sustain our word class supply chain until such time they are commercially available at scale. And why oh why should we sound a premature end to our domestic oil and gas industry only to rely even more on carbon heavy imports?

The risk of a cliff edge transition was laid bare by the devastating news of 400 job losses at the Grangemouth Refinery. Let’s back the Acorn CCUS Project as a means of providing a platform to build a future for the facility and the immediate community it serves.

This must be a JUST TRANSITION.
