Olympic legend Sir Chris Hoy to headline next True Stories event in Dundee

True Stories is returning to Dundee this autumn with one of Britain's greatest sporting icons, Sir Chris Hoy

The six-time Olympic champion will take to the stage at Caird Hall on Friday, October 2 for True Stories: An Evening with Sir Chris Hoy.

The event is the latest in the premium live interview series created by True North Advisors, which launched earlier this year with acclaimed broadcaster and documentary-maker Louis Theroux in Dundee and Edinburgh.

During an intimate and wide-ranging conversation, Sir Chris will reflect on an extraordinary career that saw him become Britain's most successful Olympic cyclist, winning six Olympic gold medals and eleven world championship titles.

He will also speak candidly about life beyond elite sport, including the resilience and perspective that have shaped his response to being diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2023.

The evening will explore the mindset that took him from local cycling tracks in Edinburgh to the top of the Olympic podium, alongside the lessons he has learned through adversity, family life and his determination to inspire others.

Sir Chris has become a powerful advocate for men's health and early cancer diagnosis, while also launching Tour de 4, a charity cycling event designed to challenge perceptions of living with stage four cancer and raise vital funds for cancer charities across the UK.

Ryan Crighton, Senior Partner at True North Advisors, who will interview Sir Chris on stage, said: "Sir Chris Hoy embodies everything True Stories is about. Of course, his achievements on the track are extraordinary, but what has inspired so many people is the courage, humility and optimism he has shown away from sport.

"This will be a fascinating and uplifting evening with one of Britain's most admired public figures, and we're delighted to be bringing him to Dundee.

"One of the things we learned from the Louis Theroux events is that audiences are looking for much more than an evening of entertainment. They want honesty, authenticity and the chance to hear remarkable people reflect on the moments that have defined their lives. For this, there is nobody better than Sir Chris Hoy.”

The event will take place at Caird Hall, Dundee, on Friday, October 2 from 7.30pm.
