A busy Offshore Europe week for True North Advisors

This has been one of the busiest and most rewarding weeks yet for True North Advisors, with our team supporting major events and important discussions during Offshore Europe and beyond.

Our clients have taken centre stage, leading key conversations on energy security, transition, and innovation - and it has been a privilege to stand alongside them as they showcased their expertise to a global audience. Here is a snapshot of what we have been up to.

The week began at the Aberdeen Music Hall, where our Managing Partner Geoff Aberdein took part in the Holyrood Sources Future of Energy debate.

Senior political figures including UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks, Shadow Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho, and Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes joined an audience of 600 to debate the future of the North Sea and wider energy transition.

Following the event, True North Advisors and ETZ Ltd also co-hosted a networking reception for 200 guests. Our Managing Partner Fergus Mutch, David Wilson, Energy Director at ETZ, and Andrew Bowie MP all addressed the event, before the conversation continued late into the night.

The podcast has now been released, and you can listen to the discussion in full here.

An evening with Sir Chris Hoy

Chris Hoy

On Thursday, our Senior Partner Ryan Crighton interviewed six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy at a packed event organised by our client Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

The 90-minute session combined humour, sporting achievement and raw honesty, as Sir Chris reflected on his extraordinary career and his current battle with stage-four prostate cancer.

The evening ended with an emotional standing ovation from the 1,300-strong Music Hall audience. You can read the Press & Journal's review of the event here.

Transition finance panel session

Our Senior Advisor Allister Thomas also joined the Scottish National Investment Bank, Transition Finance Scotland, and E-FWD for a panel event on the impacts of transition finance on the region.

The panel assessed the scale of impact investing across North and North East Scotland, highlighting how transition finance can support traditional oil and gas firms to de-risk and build orders in renewables – however, supportive policy remains key to delivery.

Cala Homes 150th Anniversary

Cala 150th

Outside of Offshore Europe, September also marked a major milestone for our client Cala Homes, which celebrated its 150th anniversary with a flagship event managed end-to-end by True North’s Senior Events Advisor Cody Mowbray,  Senior Creative Advisor Andrew Taylor, and Creative Advisor Geri Mulvany.

From concept to delivery, our team handled every detail to ensure the occasion reflected Cala’s proud heritage and future ambitions.

The highlight of the evening was an exclusive on-stage conversation between Ryan and Judy Murray OBE. In a wide-ranging and entertaining discussion, Judy shared insights into her career, family, and passion for unlocking potential.

The event showcased True North’s ability to combine seamless event delivery with compelling storytelling, leaving Cala’s guests with a memorable experience worthy of the company’s 150-year journey.
